The following are top chess engines in 2021. With the rating far beyond human chess player can reach, there is not much interest on Human Vs Computer anymore. Stockfish 13 : Elo 3546 Fat Fritz 2 : Elo 3526 Komodo Dragon : Elo 3495 Igel 3.0.5 : Elo 3418 RubiChess 2.1 : Elo 3407 Houdini 6 : Elo 3398 It is interesting to see if anybody can come out with anti-computer formula in future.

Tucano vs Fritz 13 :(

Unfortunately Tucano doesn't work in Fritz 13 GUI. So I paired Tucano vs Houdini 1.5a instead.

After 7 games, it was already clear that Tucano could not reach the monster's eye yet.

Latest Chess Engine - Tucano (Toucan pecks hard !!!??)

Despite the huge number of existing chess engines out there, chess programmers continue to release new engines (or update their existing chess engines). From the 1st January 2012 to 9 Sept 2012 at least 99 new/updated chess engines were produced (as published in wbec-ridderkerk)

At the point of my writing, the latest addition was Tucano. The name is derived from a bird named Toucan ( (look at this site: tucanochess) . Let see how Toucan pecks (or pecked by) one of the latest top commercial engine, Fritz 13. Result will be published in my next posting.

Engine Match: Houdini 1.5a vs Rybka 4.1

After sometime I felt like no point of continuing the match. Houdini 1.5a keep on trashing Rybka 4.1.
Here is the test I run under Fritz 12 GUI:

Even the lesser Houdini 1.5a could beat Fritz 13. I think the Houdini 2 could beat Fritz 13 with wider margin.

Houdini 1.5a W32 vs Fritz 12

Fritz 12 looks too amateur versus the free Houdini 1.5a. I run a match between the two in Fritz 12 GUI and Houdini completely outplayed Fritz 12.
